                                 Quimby Vs. Maine                07/25/11

NORTHERN MAINE WOODSOn the 18 of this month (July), Millinocket’s revitalization committee invited Roxanne Quimby to speak about her dangerous controversial proposal to create a 70,000 acre National Park adjacent to the total east side of Baxter State Park. Even though the large news media and the Lincoln News wrote articles and advertisements to alert people of this meeting, the auditorium of Stearns High school did not flow over with the Maine people that will be affected.

This lack of interest and true knowledge of the Maine’s people may be because they do understand the ramifications of this important proposal. This lack off knowledge may be because those who know the rest of the story have made a big mistake. I will take the heat and say those who are knowledgeable in the local towns and the state legislature make the mistake. Yes, both the town leaders have express their opposition and the legislature have followed with an opposing resolution, but I believe they are afraid to reveal all of the hidden facts. I cannot blame them, because the real information is outrageous and hideous to say the least. Before I continue, it is important to say that what you see and hear on the surface is not always the truth and everything is political in nature; and if you do not understand or believe that, then you need not read any further.

What was presented at the information meeting and the follow-up in this newspaper was pretty much accurate as to the POTENTIALITY of what could take place if “any land in any state” is qualified or designated as a Federal Park System. I for one would never try to discredit what has taken place with past National Parks or the economic benefits to the Gateway Communities to these National parks. But all conditions of the locations or qualifications are not equal, nor are the reasons or motivations for this proposal the same as other past park successes, nor is this proposal being truthfully explained as to the real motivation for Quimby’s park. Quimby’s proposition’s ideas are, a hope without figures.

With the permission of this editor of this News paper, I would Like to create a series of OP-ED articles that would slowly prove and reveal the truth, as I had done with the BETRAYAL series, which by the way was and is the base to what is transpiring as we speak. I would like to begin with reintroducing a portion of the first OP-ED from the BETRAYAL series on September 09, 2010, if you still have that newspaper or the next 10 editorials, you can fully understand how this all fits in, please note the date.

                              Quimby Vs Maine (3)         08/15/11

It has been almost a month since Ms. Quimby has given her presentation at Sterns High School. Many letters “for and against” Ms. Quimby’s proposal have been written to the Lincoln News and the BDN, angry town meetings have been held and some citizens have organized to gather information in hopes that her proposal will make them money. So far, many deep emotions seem to be the driving force behind both sides. Emotional focus is not necessarily a wrong approach when making important decisions, but facts are needed and Ms. Quimby has willfully failed to share the truth with you.

The idea of establishing a National Park is not a new idea to the Millinocket area. Many groups and organizations had come together in the past and there are many local citizens that had fought this fight before. The information that these former members have needs to be surfaced again.

Once again, I have been receiving communications from these members and they are asking for a full disclosure of why a National Park is being proposed. I have been in contact BDN Staff writer Nick Sambides and with the National Park Regional Citizen Evaluation Committee (NPRCEC) and I have suggested that all cards be paced on the table for the sake of giving the local residents all of the correct information so that they could make an educated decision.

While speaking with leaders of the NPRCEC I found that their background information on Quimby was severely incomplete. They were not aware that President Obama appointed Quimby to the National Park Foundation, which by the way, she now chairs that foundation. How was she chosen for this appointment and how did she reach the chairmanship so fast? What a coincidence that she now wants to create her own 70,000-acre park or is there a hidden agenda for the “Anchor Park”?

How many people in this state know that one of her Washington “buddies” is Ken Salazar who just happens to be the “Interior Secretary”; another coincidence? Mr. Salazar is known to many as the dangerous designer who targets areas as “wildlands”; a process that takes land out of land use! How many readers of this newspaper are aware that Mr. Salazar is coming to Millinocket on the 18 for a “stakeholders meeting” at 04:00 (PM) at Sterns High School, and then he will be off to Medway for another meeting with other supporters. How is this happening so fast and who is really behind this visit? And is it true that Quimby’s 70, 000 acres could be designated “Federal Areas” without local input?

My suggestion, for what it is worth, those who have fought the proposal of creating a National Park in the past, must reform their organizations and they must gather their information and help those who are being deceived. Many people are angry and local business believe that town officials are preventing economic growth, but they must realize that this issues goes deeper than just economics. For now, until this issue is resolved and to help calm both sides, I would be willing to attend any meeting.

These people are fearful that Obama, his administration, self-interest groups and organizations and supporters are aware that their time in power and in the lime-light is fading fast, so these take over projects are being force forward and on to the front burner.
There is no time to play with these people, if the citizens of this area do not wake up to the fact that this is a planned and calculated government takeover of your area, they will wake up to one of Obama’s plan for change and President Bush’s (senior) “New World Order”!

A parting thought to ponder: Please do not be afraid to stand up now! Revealing the true facts and to having the guts to stand for the truth and for what is right is far better than staying quite and having the guilt and having to live with the loss of liberty, freedom and the use of the Northern Unorganized Territories.

                            Quimby Vs Maine (4)                 08/30/11

It is apparent that I have opened a hornet’s nest and I have unfortunately made enemies of those who support a feasibility study, a special resource study, or a reconnaissance study or the National Park itself. Rather than explaining my reasons to each person separately, please allow me to explain in the open, to all, as to why we have taken the stand that we have. But first allow me to set the stage, piece by piece.

First of all, if the intentions of Ms. Quimby and her national supporters were just to create a real National Park, we would not be necessarily in opposition. Who would not like to make more money (to save their families), or to save pristine mountains, valleys, steams and the life that exist within them? What town leader would be dumb enough to push away an opportunity to become a gateway town of a National Park? Why would any town official prevent their citizens from taking advantage of becoming nationally recognized?

What is often seen and heard is not always on the level; charlatans, snake oil salesmen, criminals, politicians and magicians have taken advantage of the peoples emotional state and slow senses of the human to perform their acts of deception. Unfortunately to help the slight of hand, the human is easily distracted and persuaded because the deceivers know that it is easier for a person to flow with the positive and they know that we tend to feel, hear and see only what we want to feel, hear and see.

When a town(s) and its citizens are destitute, poverty stricken or soon to be, no one wants to let anything that would bring stability back into the picture, slip away. But this is when farsightedness and common sense need to be applied or vulnerability will allow for drastic mistakes, sometimes fatal!

If Quimby is up front with her proposal, several questions need to be investigated. Why did Quimby pick Millinocket, East Millinocket and Medway for support? Why did Quimby set the stage to sublimate and seed these towns with information that alludes to the possibility that a Katahdin area National Park could bring in vast monies and bring back the past lifestyles that these towns once had?  The answers to these two questions are obvious. But, just in case, allow me to throw more evidence on the table.

Obtain a map that will clearly show Quimby’s proposed 70,000 acres and route I95; locate the towns of Sherman and Patton and the area of Shin Pond. Sherman is exited right off of I95. Sherman and Patton are both Within 6 & 7 miles respectively from Quimby’s land and Shin Pond is 10 miles away. There is easy entrance from Sherman, there is a paved road leading from Sherman that is within two miles of Quimby’s boundary, now find the distance from Medway, East Mill and Millinocket and you do your own “Feasibility Study” and do the math.

It is obvious to us that Quimby and her national sponsors and supporters know how people think and react to making money. They know if they can gather the support of a large area of people economically depressed to do their bidding, the better for the agenda. They also know that people who are hungry to re-establish the old way of lifestyles will fight for Quimby’s proposal like savages and wild animals. We believe that if Quimby were to get her way, logic would demand that the entrance would be Sherman or Patton and that would knock Medway, East Mill and Millinocket out of the race and out of the money, no matter how hard they worked for Quimby!

There are three kinds of people, the betrayed, the betrayers and those who can see through the smoke and mirrors. The “Restore Project” also known as the “Maine Woods National Park & Preserve” which was voted down in 1994 and 2006 is still alive and it is doing quite well; the supporters have not gone away. The footprint of ‘Restore’ has not changed, but the land from within has. More than half of the lands that were used to maintain jobs for the timber and paper industries have been unfortunately transferred or sold and are now identified as State & Private Conservation Ownership and Easements; this was well calculated during the last administration. It would take less action, rule and law changes to convert and add these lands to the “Restore Project”.

Lastly, it has been said that we are opposed to a feasibility study, a special resource study, or a reconnaissance study, this is partially true, but not for the reasons that you think. We are fearful that the studies would be skewed and not be done honestly, we know for a fact that these studies are not done unless the Government has already decided in advance and these studies only seek confirmation of their intentions. Past practice has shown that every “Feasibility Study” has resulted in the sighting of a National Park. These studies are nothing short of “getting a foot in the door”!

Some of this past week’s telephone contacts were confused as to my reference to the “Maine Woods National Park & Preserve” and the connection to the “Restore Project”. Also, People were confused as to who Ken Salazar was and why he was speaking in Millinocket Maine. It is evident that most citizens in Maine and especially those in the “Katahdin Area” have not been kept up on information as to how they have been targeted over the years for a 10,000,000-acre National Park System.

There has been much information on this subject and many of us have been bringing this issue to the public for a long time, but many local officials and state & federal Legislator have had their reasons to block this information for various personal reasons, ask them all and find out why?

If the readers of this newspaper have been following the “Op-Ed, Betrayal Series” (started Sept 2010), this subject is well known and understood. But for those who have not been following this issue, there is not time, nor space to rehash this information, however, I will try to summarize.

Ken Salazar (Interior Secretary) and Tom Vilsack (Agriculture Secretary) are not strangers to Northern Maine, this is not the first time that they have been invited. They are following the playbooks of the United Nations “Sustainable Development Agenda 21”, the “Wildlands Project”, and the Biosphere Project” plans and they are right on schedule!

The Maine Land Use Regulatory Commission has also had a powerful hand in this and many State Legislators have also supported the slow destruction of the Northern Maine Unorganized Territories and local towns. As a result to these saboteurs, Timber Industries and farms have been forced to sell or surrender their working lands to state and private conservation programs and conservation easements. Once these lands are taken out of the tax structures, those left have to pick up the slack and the land and other state taxes have to make up for the loss. These higher private property taxes force others to sell or transfer to conservation groups and the spiral gets larger. Behind the scene, the Department Environmental Protection and the Land Use Regulatory Commission conspire and certain legislators create overbearing regulations that continue to burden those productive landowners that produce jobs. Once the tipping point is reached, it would be a matter of time before “Private Property Owners” rights are gone and transferring all the land to a “Nation Park and Preserve”. This is the plan recorded in the United Nations “Sustainable Development Agenda 21”, the “Wildlands Project”, and the Biosphere Project”!

One of our resources for correct status and current land practices is Roger Ek who is known to many as “The Northern Maine Land Man” and he is a “Realtor”. Mr. Ek was also involved during the fight against the 1994 & 2006 “Maine Woods National Park & Preserve” and the “Restore Project”. And he has the following quoted information that relates to this issue.

(START) Agenda 21 did not follow some 20 other agendas. It is actually named for the 21'st century and the agenda progressives have for this century. They have a list and they published it in the form of a book. You can buy it to see what they have planned for you! Don't expect it to appear on mainstream media news reports. We must dig it out for ourselves. The book's ISBN number is 0 521 56481 6.

As one who has been in this fight since 1974, it is important to put some of this into perspective. Around 1985 there was a conference of environmental groups in Maine. We had an attendee taking contemporaneous notes. At the inference there were maps showing the movement's goals for Maine. This took place before the Northern Forest study. It actually laid the groundwork for that study. A few copies of their map departed the room with the attendees. One of the organizers was Sandy Neally. I wrote a letter to the editor of the Lincoln News reporting about the map and in that letter is used the term "watermelons". You know, green on the outside and red on the inside.

Ms Neally was not pleased about the unintentional release of the map. Environmentalists never begin their campaigns with public release of maps. The maps come much later. A newspaper on the coast reported that Ms Neally "went ballistic" that the map was in public hands. Two weeks after the first LTE, I wrote a follow-up titled "Ballistic Watermelons". I have been out of favor with the environmental industry ever since. They know where I stand, but more importantly, I know where they stand.

Later, in 1992 the book above was released at the Rio Conference where George Herbert Walker Bush endorsed the goals of Agenda 21. In his speech upon his return from Brazil he used the term "new world order" over twenty times. You see, the progressive movement is not confined to one party (END).

Next Week we will continue to link “Quimby’s National Park” with the remaining other four proposed National Parks in Maine.

There are volumes of information on the subject of the Government take over of lands under the guise of “Conservation & Preservation”. Many readers are responding to the past Op-Ed’s are just learning about this nation wide problem and they have mixed emotions and concerns over the trust of our past State & past/current Federal Government plans for our future. This is a normal and typical human emotion when a person finds out that they have been betrayed.  Once again we stress very clearly that when you are not involved, both governments will tent to act for there own agenda’s.

In last week’s Op-Ed Mr. Ek said“in 1992 the book (Sustainable Development Agenda 21) was released at the Rio Conference where George Herbert Walker Bush endorsed the goals of Agenda 21. In his speech upon his return from Brazil he used the term ‘new world order’ over twenty times.”

In the year 1993, President Bill Clinton passed “Executive Order #12852” to engage Agenda 21 into all 50 States. Not long after, Maine’s “Land Use Regulatory Commission” and the “Department of Environmental Protection” just happened to adopt the directions and suggestions of “Agenda 21”. In 1995 the United Nations commissioned and funded a volumous edition called the (Global Biodiversity Assessment). This 3-inch book was based on the United Nations written views on their “Environmental Programme and the Biodiversity Conference” and other issues relating to their views on “Biodiversity of the world (this program also includes the United States)”. As Mr. Ek also stated last week “You see, the progressive movement is not confined to one party”.

As a result to the United Nations international movement’s pressure, our own President Barrac Obama released his own personal involvement called “The America’s Great Outdoors Initiative” on April 16 2010. On August 2 2010, Obama sent a five-member-team entourage to Bangor to gain consensus to this process (see my Betrayal #1 OP-Ed August 08 2010). What was not mentioned in my Op-Ed was that when I revealed the fact to the attendees of Obama’s so-called “America’s Great Outdoors Listening Session”, were being betrayed by hand-picked selected individuals that were planted throughout this meeting. Quimby was sitting 3 chairs to my right and she knew exactly what I meant, as I looked her way, that I was including her as one of the betrayers at the “Listening Session”.

Not long after Obama’s “America’s Great Outdoors Listening Session”, President Obama appointed Quimby to the National Park Foundation, which by the way, she now chairs that foundation. To me, it is not a coincidence as to why or how she was chosen for this appointment. To me, it is also not a coincidence as to why and how she reached the position of chairman of the National Park Foundation so fast! It is no coincidence that she now wants to create her own 70,000-acre Anchor Baby National Park”, we suspect that there a hidden agenda behind Quimby’s proposal. From what we are seeing and hearing, she is hell-bent to get this land into the hands of the Government and she will try to get it done at all odds, even if she has to bribe the snow mobile club.

Last week I said that we would continue to link “Quimby’s National Park” with the remaining other four proposed National Parks in Maine. This statement has also caused questions as to what and where are the other four National Parks to be located?

According to the mandates of the “Convention on Biodiversity”, “The Wildlands Project”, “the United Nations Man & Biosphere Program”, United States Heritage Programs”, and NAFTA: there vast acres that are identified in the United States, Maine as expected to be part of this process. There is a map created By Dr. Michael Coffman who also wrote, “Rescuing a Broken America” and is head of “The Environmental Perspectives, Inc”. Using the above mandates and the “Global Biodiversity Assessment”, Dr. Coffman identifies 10,000,000 acres in Maine to become “Core Wilderness Reserves & Corridors” that will be eventually located these 5 areas.

Quimby’s 70,000 acres are directly in Park/location #4. Location #4 is in Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties. Park #5 is in parts of Penobscot and most of Washington Counties, location #1 is in Aroostook and Somerset Counties, location #2 is Somerset and Franklin Counties, location #3 is in Oxford County. Mr. Ek and I visited the County Commissioners concerning these locations and the connection to the Maine Land Use Regulatory Commission. This information was part of the reasons why the Commissioners are also not in favor of any National Park or LURC,s involvement!

There is also a reason why the Maine Legislature and local officials have voted for a resolution against any more National Parks and “Feasibility Studies”. The Katahdin area residents need to follow this path too and not be lured into Quimby’s and Salasar, and Vilsack and the Presidents divisive entrapment to give up your “Maine’s Heritage”!

            Quimby Vs Maine (7)   09/19/11

Of the many questions that we have received, many readers are asking me “why are there still supporters of Quimby’s National Park and why are these people still pushing for a governmental study for this area when there is so much contrary information that you have covered and has also been available to research?”

First of all, let me explain without taking up very much space: our group tries to remain neutral and non-partisan. This however is hard to do since most of today’s problems stem from the past state and past/present federal administrations calculated plans to reduce and in some instances remove the people’s “Constitutional Rights”. I personally created a seminar that compared both state parties’ political platforms and I linked the protection or the removal of citizen’s Constitutional Rights to the Democrat and Republican Parties Platforms. Our group uses, the non-partisan political and scientific facts and figures and we try to remove the “veil of secrecy” in a manner that is researchable, proven and understandable to the readers of our material.

I have been attacked many times as a “turn-coat” or “Republican Stooge” because of the research that has been explained and exposed. There are many who are to lazy or they refuse or are afraid to research this information because they do not wish to find the truth. Once again, I beg the reader to research information that we provide and find that all of the data is researchable and proven historical facts.

Now, today I am taking off the gloves, and let us see if they are ready to tackle this problem in front of their followers! I can be quoted from ‘Quimby Vs Maine #3 on August 15’ that “I have been in contact BDN Staff writer Nick Sambides and with the National Park Regional Citizen Evaluation Committee (NPRCEC) and I have suggested that all cards be paced on the table for the sake of giving the local residents all of the correct information so that they could make an educated decision.” I gave an open opportunity for both the BDN staff writers and Mr.Cox and Mr. McLaughlin (or anyone else) to question me, in person or at a town meeting to give the towns people the truth behind Quimby’s proposal and put this to rest.

At present time, the BDN will not reveal the truth and Mr. Cox and Mr. McLaughlin continue to resist the historical facts concerning President G.H.W. Bush & William Clinton’s involvement with “one-world orders, executive orders and the United Nations involvement” with Maine’s laws that direct the Department of Environmental Protection & The Land Use Regulator Commission.

But yet, Mr. Cox & Mr. McLaughlin is quoted in last week’s news and they say: “There is no reason to avoid facts and hide the truth”. If they want the truth, why have they only kowtowed to Quimby’s promise of bringing money to this area, or is there an agenda that they want pushed through quickly before anyone finds out. Personally and frankly, I have had it with “the hurry-up and pass this quickly”, “pass the bill and then we will read it” or “its to complicated, pass it now and then we will find out later” attitudes. This is the method used to lock-in undesirable plans that are impossible to stop when the scheme is finally revealed.

This so-called National park will not only affect the Katahdin Area or Sherman and Patton areas; as I pointed out in last weeks Op-Ed. It will however affect many counties and eventually all of Maine. Also in last weeks Katahdin Regional News (Sept 15), Shelly Farrington reports that “the East Millinocket Board of Selectman agreed to recently to incorporate a straw poll vote for the public” for a feasibility study. Supposedly, this vote would “gauge the level of support”. I commend the board in their willingness to involve their residents. Ms. Farrington also quotes Mr. Mackenzie “it would be great if residents have a question there was a place they could go to get verified and factual information.” So far all the residents have heard Ms. Quimby and her Washington friend Ken Salazar. Once again, what part of my Op-Ed’s do they not understand, these Selectman must read this newspaper. Why have they not contested what I have said and why have they not researched on their own, the historic events that we have been openly pointed out over the past year concerning what has caused Northern Maine to fail and who have been behind the lose of jobs, farms and the lumbering industries.

Yes I agree the public needs a place to “go to get verified and factual information”, but the truth must be at this place too and it must have both sides to substantiate their information before any straw-poll vote is taken!

                        Quimby Vs. Maine #8             10/03/11

Many readers of this newspaper were curious as to why we did not submit the Op-Ed in last weeks Lincoln News. Well we were hot on information that Quimby was buying another11,291 acres to add to her 120,000 acres of land mostly held in conservation; 70,000 acres of which she has proposed as a National park. This latest land grab is less than 2 miles east from her proposed National Park site and less than 2 miles to the Shin Pond Road (route 159); 10 miles from the Patton exit on I95.

If this latest land purchase smells of conspiracy or it just confuses you, maybe we can shed some light and more information to this issue. First of all the Penobscot River runs right through and cuts her land in half, it surrounds some of the best white water recreational use and fishing in the Katahdin area. Quimby claims that this new tract of land will not be part of her National Park proposal, but it does lead to the question as to whether she will use this tract of land as the ‘Patton entry and exit to her park’ or whether this new land will be used as a ‘poker chip’ by upping the ante and raising the bribe to one more year of access to her land to the snowmobile clubs or sportsman; if they back and kowtow to her proposal.

If this new tract of land were to be added to her National Park, it would take away the argument that her original 70,000 acres has no spectacular attraction or draw to visitors that attend other real National Parks. Her new area has multi-easy access to the ‘Penobscot East-Branch’ and even if not added to the mix, this could be the new draw to the area and could be set up as a staging point with camps and primitive camping.

This new purchase was well calculated in our view; we know from her past practice, Quimby will not stop for anything until she gets her personal agenda through! No one does anything without some form of motivation. This new tract of land was not purchased just to add to her dowry. We know who she was in the past, and we know that she is now a highly placed government employee appointed by Obama. We also know that the future plans continue for the “Restore Area“, which are in-part the original plans for the “North Woods National Park, 3,200,000 acres” and the 10,000,000 acre area that the United Nations described in the “Global Diversity Assessment and Convention” and the 1992 Reo De Janeiro Convention and “Sustainable Development, Agenda 21”.

Four weeks ago, I stated in “Quimby Vs. Maine #4”, that [There are three kinds of people, the betrayed, the betrayers and those who can see through the smoke and mirrors. It would take less action, rule and law changes to convert and add these lands to the “Restore Project”.]

Recently, readers of this newspaper were appalled, stunned and angry that a previously unpopular proposal in 1994 & again in 2006, the “Maine Woods National Park & Preserve” also known as the “Restore Project” was obviously rejected not only by the people, but also by the local and state legislators. But yet these supporters of these proposals would still be blatantly continuing under a different “Veil of secrecy”. Beware of those who say and use the statement that “this is a different time and conditions are different”. The reasons for the rejections before were based on the destruction in the north, which would result from a proposal that would kill the economic use of the northern woods, and nothing changed! Question these people with impudent aggressiveness and do not let them get away with anything!

The historic proof can still be investigated and it is obviously easy to see that when 35 years of Maine History is is revealed, there was a slow death to farms, fishing, and lumber and timber industries. These ‘mainstays’ of finances and employment had been consistently and slowly calculated with an obviously scheduled process of over regulation and taxes, coupled with the creation of “state & private conservation programs and easements”. Today these criminals would easily blame current national and inter-national collapses as to why Maine is also collapsing, but I only ask the reader to stop and think: where would we be today if the farms, the fishing and the lumbering and timbering industries were allowed to function and prosper without government schemes to destroy Maine’s businesses?

Quimby’s new purchase is located well within the “North Woods National Park, 3,200,000 acres”. The readers of this newspaper should know by now, if they have been following this issue: the eastern foot print of the “North Woods National Park” boarders parts of the south and west side of route 11 from Medway (route 157) to Knowles Corner where the border veers northwest, please look at a map if this is confusing or contact me.

Next week we will tie in more land that is being gobbled up in this footprint.

                          Quimby Vs. Maine #9         10/10/11

Over a year ago in the ‘Betrayal Series #4 dated 09/18/10’ I wrote: [It is mind boggling that the average citizen is not aware that they have been engaged by magician like tactics that have misled the populous attention away from the concerns that really matter in our life. Instead, both administrations in Washington and Augusta (the past administration) have taken advantage of those who are living the “American Dream”, meanwhile they separate and control us by polarizing our beliefs and emotions. We work, we enjoy our families, we play with our toys and we expect to continue this life under the protection of our governments. This is how a freedom loving country should live, but when we sleep and do not hold our political parties to the Constitution, corruption can gently flow in, as it has. How easy it is for us to be controlled and react to sound bites that separate our economical status, gender, race, religion and yes, our political party.

While we lived our American dream, our attention was distracted while the administrations created a useless bulging bureaucratic government that in turn created wasteful and expensive committees, departments and divisions that have finally controlled our thoughts and boxed us into the corner. We are now controlled as mice in a mouse maze.]

Now to expose and make the connection as to why the State of Maine was placed into this position: This scheme did not happen over night and I could write a 3-inch book on how we got here and who were involved. Mr. Tom McDonnell on August 15, 2005 authored an ‘Analysis of the Evolving Nature of the United Nations Environmental Scientific & Cultural Organization’s Man & Biosphere Reserve Program. After attending the first International Biosphere Reserve Congress in the Minsk Republic in the USSR. Mr. McDonnell briefly, accurately and skillfully records 15 pages of the systemized formation of UNESCO’s organized task forces from 1972 to 2005. He lays out the “Criteria and Guidelines for the choice & establishment of biosphere reserves, the core areas and the corridors that connect them”. He explains the action plans that would eventually control the Biosphere Reserves and how the local people could be mislead & influenced and used to implement and facilitate the location of these reserves. The problem at hand is: how would a sovereign country allow the implementation of the United Nations Environmental Scientific & Cultural Organization’s Man & Biosphere Reserve Program.

In the Katahdin Area, the question is simple to answer: first the supporters of the U.N. had to slowly and systematically destroy the local business’s, the farms, fishing, lumber and timber and paper making industries; then they raised the taxes on those who were left and then they created overwhelming regulations on businesses and farms. They then created State and Private conservation programs (with non-government organizations NGO’s) and easements projects that takes the land out of the tax base. Does my answer make sense and is this what has happened in Maine and is it still happening?

The Bangor Daily News Posted on Sept 22, 2011, an article called “Conservation easement projects No. 5 Mountain”. This article said the Nature Conservancy & the Forest Society of Maine (two non-government organizations, NGO’s), helped to finalize the purchase and to remove another 10,000 acres from the Maine Tax’s and they helped to place this land into more regulated ‘conservation easements’, with the “Goal of Permanent Conservation”.

Just like Quimby’s land, this acreage also lands within the borders of the 10,000,000-acre National Park (area #2). We know that this acreage is part of the agreement with the ‘Plum Creek Timber Company’, but history will show that what the Nature Conservancy says and what they are planning is two different things.

Once again I ask the reader to stop and think for a moment and ponder how this vast state and the other 49 states looked like before we inhabited this country. When this country was forming, where would we be today if the Nature Conservancy & the Forest Society of Maine placed all the land into ‘conservation easements’ Look out of the windows where you live, look at the schools, your place of work, the stores where you purchase all of your food and supplies. Look all around; everywhere you go, this land was not inhabited at one time, it was pristine and beautiful. All of this land was a gift from GOD. Genesis 1, chapters 28 & 29 “fill the earth and subdue it”. “Have dominion over all life, the animals and every tree (paraphrased)”. What right does the Nature Conservancy & the Forest Society of Maine have to remove another 10,000 acres, only to add this land to the other thousands of acres that were removed from the Maine tax base and from the job market?

It is time that the people of Maine understand what the Nature Conservancy and LURC are doing to our “Maine Heritage”!

              Quimby Vs. Maine #10           10/17/11

Recently, the most common question or concern is: why is Maine the only targeted state? When I explain that the State of Maine is not the only state that is under the microscope and that the entire nation is or has already undergone the systemized plans of the “Wildlands Project”, the “Biosphere Program” and “Sustainable Development (Agenda 21)”, they become confused as to why this deceit has spread so far & wide and has not been exposed in the State of Maine before this.

Many readers are surprised that 31 other states are subordinate and are working under the Wildlands Project; as a result 40% of the United States territory has been locked away so far. On the western side of our nation, open spaces (deserts & forest) make it easy to force polices to remove lands for habitation and those who do live in these areas cannot appose the governments advance of high taxes, conservation programs and national preserves. Just like Maine’s northern woods, the Alaska Wildlands Project is planning to lock away and control most of the state. Other states involved include Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, parts of North & South Dakota, California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Wyoming, Texas, and Utah.

On the East side of the U.S. there are 9 Wildland Projects that include Maine, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, Ohio, Virginia, Tennessee, North & South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

There are good reasons why the larger Newspapers do not share this information with you. Many of the owners of the news media are leaders and members of the larger non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) and self-serving interest groups and many of the editor’s correspondence and staff writers are either members or controlled from the top to blackout or ignore this information.  Many of the State Senators and Congressmen knew about this in the 80’s, but they favored the direction of the United Nations beliefs. Many state legislators also knew about this scheme, as did many town leaders. In 1994 and 2006 is when the Northern Maine Woods National Park and preserve was voted down, many who fought that proposal understood the Wildlands Project and they thought it was over, so they went to sleep until now.

The past is the past and the people in the Katahdin area have to move forward from here to protect their area. Quimby is still on the move, she is seeking interviews by anyone who she can gain interest or agree with her, and she will not stop until the people reveal the truth and stop her bulling tactics. Just recently, Nick Sambides Jr. BDN staff writer Wednesday Oct 12, he quoted Quimby’s statements to a forbes.com article. Quimby, apparently frustrated with those who disagree with her, she called Maine a welfare state and belittled people who are over weight and use medications. Senator Snowe skillfully responded to Quimby’s insensitive statements by saying that Quimby’s statements “do not reflect the reality and true nature of Maine” she also iterated that she still “opposes a National Park service Feasibility study of Quimby’s plan”.

Last August, Senator Snowe’s representative alluded to the fact that: the Senator would support an assessment only if Millinocket, East Millinocket, Medway, Mount Chase Patton, Sherman, Stacyville, and part of the Unorganized Territories agree to it. So now the question arises, why are Bruce Cox and George McLaughlin still siding with Quimby, or maybe they do understand her scheme to create the anchor National Park; what do they personally get out of this support?

Mr. Cox and Mr. Mclaughlin recently released a press release that announced 16 groups that support the Feasibility Study. I could understand business that have a stake in wanting to make money, but one would have to admire the Gaul from known collaborators of the “Wildlands Project”, the “Biosphere Program” and “Sustainable Development (Agenda 21)”.  The Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Council of Maine would like to shut down all forestlands in Maine; they are part of the NGO’s that continue to use rhetoric to charm people to their side.

I will quote myself from Quimby Vs. Maine  #4 (08/30/11)  “it has been said that we are opposed to a feasibility study, a special resource study, or a reconnaissance study, this is partially true, but not for the reasons that you think. We are fearful that the studies would be skewed and not be done honestly, we know for a fact that these studies are not done unless the Government has already decided in advance and these studies only seek confirmation of their intentions. Past practice has shown that every “Feasibility Study” has resulted in the sighting of a National Park. These studies are nothing short of getting a foot in the door!

Only a parent or an intelligent person would understand what I am going to say next. How many of you have told your kids at one time or another “what part of no, do you not understand!” The frustrated parent is then bombarded with question after question and statement after statement, but yet the parent does not waver. To be fair to the child, the parent painstakingly explains to the child that, “no still means no!” The explanations can contain facts and figures and the issue could be ‘plain as day’ to the parent, but yet the youth’s beliefs and “needs and wants and agenda” will continue for days, maybe for years until either the parent breaks down, the child gives up, or the child matures.

At one time or another, we all fall into the trap of believing that we are correct in our beliefs, but most of us have the human ability to admit that we are sometimes wrong. This power to change when we are wrong shows two main human qualities, maturity and the ability to embrace the truth. When a person cannot change when confronted by the truth, several conditions are at play, the fear of being wrong, or they know that they are incorrect and unreasonable and that they are afraid to admit to the truth. There is one other condition that is the most dangerous and that is: willful defiance of the truth and having an agenda that only supports their own selfish needs and wants.

It is beyond my comprehension how anyone would still side with the Quimby proposition? The information is still out there from the past, if anyone has taken the time and has investigated this issue, on both sides, and after collecting all the facts and figures, how could they still be in favor of a feasibility study or Quimby’s proposal? It is my personal belief that those who still support Quimby’s proposition either understands what it does for the governments agenda or what the proposition can do for their own selfish “wants and needs”. I personally believe that there is a third group of people; there are those who have been betrayed and do not know it yet.

The question of how does one get a fair and balanced overview of this issue. This problem supposedly was to come to an end for the people that lived in East Millinocket. Last Thursday, as advertised in last week’s addition of this newspaper, an open meeting for information was to be held during a formal town meeting. However, a last minute decisions to hijack the town’s informational meeting left only two political leaders on the stage to fend for themselves. Apparently, this take over was illegal and was called out by Representative Herbert Clark and other town members who alluded to the fact that, the takeover violated town ordinance and the “Roberts Rules of Order” and the recorded minutes of the meeting would be viewed as illegal.

Mark Scally, Town Selectman recently rewarded for changing to Quimby’s side, was given the position of treasurer for Quimby’s support group. It was apparent that he also was in favor of this illegal take over, because he could have stopped the activities instead of endorsing the agenda. It was evident to most of the attendees that this was a previously planned agenda. Members that attended said that only two-minute questions would be allowed and there would be absolutely no statements given.

It is now apparent that this unparalleled violation has “back fired” as many attendees of the meeting were angry and were able to see that the agenda was one sided and not “fair and balanced” as was advertised. History has always proven that bullies whether individuals, gangs or governments usually succeed at first, but they always fail in the end. My advice (for what it is worth), for the citizens of the town of East Millinocket hold a “Vote of Confidence” of each of their town officials and start an election process that would weed-out those with personal agendas.

In a relating story, covered by BDN staff writer Nick Sambides Jr.; he reported events that were held the same night in Millinocket. Quimby apparently received the same opposition that had been voiced in East Millinocket. Ms. Quimby pleaded forgiveness for her “Freudian slip of the tongue” and tried to gain support of her proposition. Unfortunately, Those who favored Quimby’s proposition could only re-iterate the potential weak monetary aspects, but those in opposition were not fooled with potential monetary rewards for selling their souls for trusting the government with more locked away land.

One would only question that with all of this opposition, why does the news media always portray the positive aspects (which are really negative) and very rarely, tell the truth?

                    Quimby Vs. Maine #12           11/01/11

Last week I gave a partial overview of the information Meeting in East Millinocket, that was held under false pretence. I said that the apparent take-over had actually backfired and that many of the attendees were angry; I am now finding that, that my message was an understatement. From what I am now being told is that even some of those who favored the Feasibility Study and National Park are now questioning the credibility of the proposal do to the underhanded tactics that were forced onto the people; and now these sneaky maneuvers are now being viewed as suspicious. If this is the case, it is about time that the citizens of the Katahdin area start questioning everything that is involved with this pseudo National Park and the real agenda behind the proposition. I will also suggest that even the answers need to be substantiated; all of the truth is on record and on the net.

So far, only Quimby, Salizar and a handful of government employees and hand picked presenters have given their slanted presentations before the public. In opposition, a handful of local officials and people have given verbal response at the Quimby meetings. Several people have given their opinions in the newspapers, for and against, but yet, not one meeting has been established that would cover the other side of the story. Because there have been no debates, I am going to make my offer short and sweet. Here is my proposal and let us see if Quimby’s people are ready to stand their ground!

I would suggest that an balanced number of panelists of 6 or 8 be established for a real debate and informational meeting. The meeting would cover more than 4 hours and the local elected political leaders, Senator Doug Thomas and Representative Herbert Clark, would moderate it. Questions could be gathered before or during the meeting and all panelists would be given the same opportunity to answer each question.

As a prerequisite, for posterity sake, I would also suggest that all of the television and local and state newspapers be present. It is my belief that once and for all, this project needs to be filed under “Failed”!

                                     Quimby Vs. Maine #13                      11/08/11

I am amazed at the amount of communication and exchange that was generated after last weeks Op-Ed concerning the obvious blatant methods that were used to hide the truth from the East Millinocket Town Citizens. Also I thank those who believe that there should be a real informational meeting concerning Quimby’s proposition.

There are however, many issues that need to be exposed in the meantime that cannot be delayed. Because of the time element, this information will have been written prior to the so-called ‘straw vote’ in East Millinocket. No Matter what the vote ends up to be, I would call it “Null & Void” because of the deceptive and fraudulent scheme that was used to prevent all the information at their bogus information meeting.

I have personally spoken, to the leaders of Quimby’s front group, Mr. McLaughlin twice and once to Mr. Cox. I made an offer to make myself available and to make available maps and information as to why Quimby’s proposition is bad for all of the people in Maine. When time had passed, I left a message with Mr. Cox. To this day, they are afraid to bring this issue into the light of day.

I ask the readers this bottom line question and than I ask of you to ponder the question: Why are the members of Quimby’s citizen group afraid to invite, on stage, people who have factual based documents? If I were one who did not understand anything about this issue, I would be angry with those who would hide the opposing view, especially if there was resistance to the exposure. And I would also question why was there an obvious planned meeting, just to discuss only one side! I would also question why the people of East Millinocket are not taking an immediate stand to penalize these people for what they had done! I had suggested a “Vote of Confidence”, but many of you have mentioned other means; it is your town.

On the issue of creating an information meeting, it was suggested by many readers that more than one be held in all of the surrounding towns, especially in the towns that would be obviously impacted because of the close proximity to a logical entrance, such as Stacyville, Patton or Sherman Mills. I agree on many counts: Somehow the age-old carrot of money has betrayed the towns of Millinocket, East Millinocket and Medway. I once again draw your attention to any map of your choice and look at Quimby’s property and whether the access should be from the south or from the east.  Anyone with the power to make decisions and have the ability to read a map would pick Stacyville, Patton or Sherman Mills. I could understand the merchant’s quest to keep their businesses running in the black during this economic disaster, but they have been fooled and betrayed.

Shifting our view to the east, would this logical approach of access be good for the citizens of Patton or Sherman Mills? Forget the carrot for a moment and lets look at past history as to what happens to local villages & towns that had surrounded other National Parks. Find out what really happened to the businesses and the economy and the established communities, especially those homes along the access roads and those homes that create a so-called eye sore to the scenic views and vistas! When you deal with the government, there are no negotiations and they have the cards and they can change the rules when it suits them (excuse the pun).

There is a video that is circulating and many presenters are showing it. Representative Jeff Gifford presented the first showing of “For The Good of All” in the town of Lincoln. For your personally viewing, you may see this “Frontline special” at http://.landrights.org/VideoGoodOfAll.htm

If Quimby’s support group will not be up front and play fair and balanced, than I suggest that the people in surrounding towns of Millinocket, East Millinocket, Medway, Mount Chase, Patton, Sherman, Stacyville (and the affected people in the Unorganized territories) take this bull by the horns and create their own fair and balanced information meeting.

Lastly, please do not forget that Quimby was on the board of “Restore”. President Obama appointed Quimby to the National Park Foundation, which by the way, she now chairs that foundation. Also appointed by Obama is Ken Salazar the “Interior Secretary” and John Jarvis is the “Director of the National Park Service”. These are all top ranking government employees and they all have the same goals and negative track records. Do you trust government officials and do you trust them in Maine?

                               Quimby Vs Maine #14     11/17/12

Last week, I alluded to the fact that I believed that the straw poll vote in East Millinocket should be “Null and Void”,no matter what the outcome would be. I based that belief on the deceptive and fraudulent scheme that was used to prevent all the information at their bogus information meeting before the straw poll vote was taken.

As most people in East Millinocket know that the ‘Straw Poll Vote” was 132 (26%) for the Feasibility Study and 532 (74%) were against. Many voters said that they did not need any more information to vote against “Quimby’s Proposition and the Feasibility Study” and that it would be an insult to the voters if the poll were considered “Null & Void” after the voters already had turned down the study.

I do not wish to insult any voter in the East Mill Area, so I openly apologize if anyone thought I was belittling his or her intelligence. I only wish to add that the reason behind my thought was: many of those who were in favor of the study, would have changed their minds in advance and they would have understood how they were used and why the study and Quimby’s Proposition needed to be voted down. I am impressed that 74% voted against the study, I highly commend the East Mill voters, but I believed that a total landslide would have looked better after all the truth was reviled.

Many people still believe the “Vote of Confidence” should be taken on those officials that misconstrued the intent of the real informational meeting. And all of the people that I have spoken to are also in favor of my suggestion to hold fair and balanced informational meetings in the surrounding towns of Millinocket, Medway, Mount Chase, Patton, Sherman, Stacyville (and the affected people in the Unorganized territories).

It is questionable that Ms. Quimby is still in denial, but to me it is apparent that she knows exactly what she is doing. Right after the vote, she commented that her support group did a job of getting people interested in the Feasibility Study. That accommodation should have made her supporters happy, but everyone else knows that she is only saying that to hide the fact that her members failed and she is only holding on to her support group by a thread.

I would discourage those who believe that Quimby and her support group are going to give up on this project, history has proven that it is not in their nature and there is to much at risk if they stop now; Quimby has been trying since the early 90’s. I do however give her much credit, because when there has been roadblocks, resistance and failures, and she recovers and she comes right back with another plan.

To insure that Quimby’s support group does not duplicate the events from reoccurring in another town again, I will make myself available and offer assistance and help to form the “fair and balanced” information meetings and help to assure that all information is done in the open. I will also make myself available and offer assistance to all town officials that wish to hold meeting in their towns, and I will help any citizens group with developing truthful information.

                                      Quimby Vs. Maine #15                      11/29/11

Soon after the straw poll vote was taken in the town of East Millinocket, many town residents and people of the Katahdin Area rejoiced because the vote proved that Quimby’s support group, and other proponents (residents and town officials) were sorely out of touch with the local voters knowledge and will to keep the Federal Government out of this area.

I wrote a passage in the Quimby Vs Maine #14, where I discouraged the citizens of the Katahdin region to not rejoice so early and not get their hopes up so soon. The people that responded to my skepticism that Quimby will pop-up with another scheme thought that it was over. I explained in much more detail that Quimby and her supporters (past & present) that: “history has proven that it is not in their nature and there is to much at risk if they stop now” and that “Quimby has been trying since the early 90’s.” I also said that when she and her supporters recover, they will come right back with another plan and it will start all over again.

Well, I was right on track: Cynthia Dill, Senator from Cape Elizabeth came forward with a personally formed, so-called “Environmental Citizens Group” called “Friends of the Maine Woods”. She boasts the membership to be 1800 members and she also claims that her new group had collected 2500 signatures from people that are in favor of Quimby’s National Park and the feasibility study.
There is much information that needs to be exposed to the people of Maine concerning this new Quimby support group. Even though Senator Dill claims no history of friendship with Quimby, they are kin to the past efforts of creating a “North Maine Woods National Park”. The Senator gave a Freudian slip of the tongue when she was quoted By Nick SambidesBDN Staff, posted Nov 22. Senator Dill said:  “We unequivocally believe a National park in Maine’s woods will create jobs and economic opportunities, as well as protect the largestuninterrupted forestland in the East. Our sole purpose is seeing the Maine Woods National Park become reality.” If Quimby’s National Park did became a reality, the foot print is only 77,000 acres and it would not blanket the largestuninterrupted  forestland in the east. So what did she really mean?A map shown on channel 2 news Tuesday (Nov 22), while covering Dill’s group clearly shows the 3,200,000 acre foot print of the old “Restore Project” and the “North Maine Woods National Park and Preserve” that had been defeated in 1994 and than again in 2006.  So what does the good Senator really have up her sleeve? Also in the news report, it was mentioned that Senator Dill and her newly formed group favored Quimby’s National Park as the core to the North Woods National Park! I have been saying from the beginning: Quimby’s National Park is the anchor to “The 3,2000,000 Northern Maine National Park” and Senator Dill said it in her presentation!
Another coincidence, not very well hidden is: Quimby donated  $12,000 dollars to Senator Dill’s private Political Action Committee.  In turn, in September (2011) the Senators PAC placed $5,000 towards the creation of Quimby’s new citizen front group. How convenient is this? Senator Dill starts a so-called citizens group that the “sole purpose is seeing the Maine Woods National Park become reality” while using Quimby’s own donated $5,000 dollars. So was this donation a reward to Senator Dill for giving her support and positive presentation in Millinocket when U.S. Secretary to the Interior Ken Salazar was giving his presentation of the feasibility studies? And is this donated money just another scheme to use more of Quimby’s money while giving the impression that this is the citizen’s money at work for the Maine people?

Many people are calling this new effort and support for the Quimby proposition a useless effort committed by city folk who do not live in the affected area. Others say that this is already a dead and useless effort caused by people who were easily misled and fooled by Dill & Quimby. Some local Katahdin region residences are angry because these southern Mainers will not be directly affected no matter what the outcome maybe. This is definitely not the time to become complacent because there are many powerful people in Washington who are behind this movement who have the money and the patience to keep up the pressure!

Yes, Quimby’s people are forming for the big fight and yes they may have many legal hurtles to jump, but just remember, while you look the other way, or celebrate your holidays, their plans will continue.

Quimby Vs. Maine #16           12/13/11

With the holiday season sneaking up on us quickly, most of us are being distracted by the thoughts of sharing time with friends and family, so on that note, I will be brief and to the point. There are those in state government and in Washington who are beginning to panic because of the voluminous opposition to the Quimby National Park. They are putting all their eggs into one basket, and knowing how they think, they will try to devise an end-run around the opposition. Knowing how they operate, they will try every avenue to railroad or ramrod this 3.2 million acre park through. At present time, Ken Salazar is chomping at the bit to waste federal taxpayer’s money on a “Reconnaissance Study”, which would be one step closer and the first in a series to further justify giving the green light to commit this land to the federal government.

Legislators in southern Maine have already started a campaign that will target anyone that does not agree with their plans to shove through the “Northern Maine National Park”. Local citizens should be ready for the onslaught of degrading insults and belligerent dogma that will be used to quiet the opposition. Also beware of political leaders that sound like they are against the national park but have had past affiliations with over taxing and over regulating lumbering industries, farms and businesses in northern Maine and the industries along the coast. These are political insiders who are plants and it is their scheme to infiltrate your groups and organizations.

Secretary of the interior Ken Salazar, Quimby and Senator Dill never expected average citizens would have the intelligence to see through the smoke and mirrors that was held at the various information meeting that were systematically set up by their support groups and organizations.

The age of the Internet may have helped the Quimby Proposition, but local citizens have now organized and have taken that research deeply into the motivations as to what Quimby’s project is all about. Other locals are now waking up to this scam and they are never going backwards again, but they now need the correct information. This is why we have formed and scheduled a set of future informational meeting that will allow the average citizen to understand how the people have been used and guided down the “prim rose path”.

Set up and ready to go is a format that will provide information that is historic, up to date, provable and not based on empty economic promise, impulse, probabilities and hope. The presenters are creditable and many have been in this fight before. The forum (unlike the East Millinocket meeting), will be set up to allow the public to engage in statements and questions moderated by creditable people.
It is however unfortunate that leaders of the “National Park Citizens Committee” have refused to provide four individuals that would have given their continued support to Quimby’s Park and to Salazar’s Feasibility Study. One of the leaders of the “National Park Citizens Committee” refused our open invitation to be involved because he could not change the set-up of the “fair and balanced format” and he continued to support and praise the one sided meeting held in East Millinocket.

At present time, these meeting are planned to be held in four locations around the 3.2 million-acre national park footprint. As these plans become solidified, dates will be posted and local town officials will advertise time and locations. In the meanwhile, if you wish to be involved or if you can get Quimby’s people to be involved, please notify me.

              Quimby vs. Maine #17           01/09/12

The holidays are behind us, our relatives have gone home and the decorations are packed away until next year. While we relied on our Constitutional rights to observe and enjoy our freedoms to have religious beliefs and to celebrate in a free country, those who would believe that their ideologies are supreme to ours did not stop for the holidays.

Those who support taking private lands under false pretence and placing this acreage into the federal hands are still pushing to lock Maine’s land away from future natural use.  When they fail in one area, they pick up their snake-oil and they move to a different location, hoping that this new population will not see through the smoke and mirrors.

Cynthia Dill, Senator from Cape Elizabeth who personally organized a so-called “Environmental Citizens Group” called “Friends of the Maine Woods”, fooled her supporters into believing that their petition campaign would have clout and power. Little do her supporters know that it is the local communities that surround Quimby’s acreage who have the power to accept or deny a feasibility study and/or National Park? So what is the deal?

This is only my opinion, but I always look at motivation. We know that Senator Dill is not hiding the fact that she is falling in line with the federal plans to nationalize northern Maine. Senator Dill has blatantly “let the proverbial Cat out of the bag” when she exposed her support of the 3.2 million acre area called “Restore”.  And she also did not hide the real intent when she mentioned her support of the project called “the Northern Maine woods National Park and preserve”, which she called it “the largestuninterrupted forestland in the East.”

To add my opinion of her motivation, Senator Dill revealed her intent to run against Senator Olympia Snow who just happens to not support the Quimby National Park. Is Senator Dills new Citizens group the core for her stepping point of support for Senator Snows seat? And is Senator Dill setting up the issue of the Northern Maine National Park to be the contention between the Democrat and the Republican Party? I maybe be early in my prediction, but I see this election as both parties squaring off with the Republican Party trying to save Maine’s economy and the Democrats locking up the future use of northern Maine resources. It will be interesting to see if people are going to fight to stop the government encroachment or whether the voter will side and support the Democrat Party politics! Did Senator Dill understand what problem she has created or are the supporters of the “10 million acre National Park” realizing that Maine is waking up and that they need to make an immediate “end-run” around them?

For those of you who have not followed this issue of the federal governments preparation to take Maine’s land for the 10 million acre National Park, little do you know that weekly, hundreds, maybe thousands of acres in Maine are going into public and private conservation groups and land trusts corporations under false pretence. Much of this acreage is owned by stakeholders and non-government conservation groups that have taken this land out of the local tax base and placed into large tree growth areas that are never taxed again. This not only forces other small and large land owners to pay more taxes, but it also sets up the other surrounding landowners in to a position where they may have to sell their lands to these government front groups because their new higher taxes have to make up for the losses. It is believed that once the tipping point is reached, any land within the targeted 10 million acre area will be too expensive to be maintained by any private ownership.

A perfect example for this process is what had happened to a 3000 acre parcel of land that was proposed as an “eco resort project”. This project would have employed hundreds of workers to build a golf course and 1000 homes connected to the resort. A wide spectrum of skilled workers would have been employed for years and the normal maintenance after the completion would have also employed hundreds. This development would have pulled in millions of dollars in taxes to the Schoodic, Gouldsboro and Winter Harbor area, local businesses would have supplied the needed goods and services and eventually the vacationers would have spent their vacation money along the entire coast. Because this land is placed in tree growth for tax purposes, very little resource development will make up for the potential loss.

At this rate, “Vacation Land” will soon be “No Mans Land”!

       Quimby vs. Maine #18           01/24/12

Before I begin this Op-Ed, I would like to thank Roger Ek for his dedication to fighting for the return of the Constitutional rights of the people who live in the Unorganized Territories (UT) in Maine. He needs to be recognized for his ceaseless determination to oppose legislators (both Democrat and Republican) who continue to allow Maine people to be subject to political domination.

Unlike an elected legislator, Mr. Ek writes his own Presentations (and letters to the editor, for reference see 01/20/12) that he personally gives at the capital in Augusta. He takes time from his own real-estate business and he spends his own money for gas, and he never asks anything in return.

If you have read Mr. Ek’s last letter to the editor, you would have understood that once again we have been beaten back by the legislature and we are not much better off than before we tried to repeal the power of the Land Use Regulatory Commission (LURC). Any time a state commissions staff or board member is appointed, we the people are shut out of the decision making process. Unfortunately, what Mr. Ek has left out (because he is a gentleman) is that the Democrats and yes even with the Republicans in power, both parties did it to us once again.

Whether you want to believe it or not, the bill to repeal LURC was designed to fail from the beginning. Please allow me to prove my point. First of all, other than Mr. Ek and me, did you ever hear from your local Senators or Representatives how important it was to repeal LURC. The repeal of LURC would have placed growth, jobs and economic activities in the UT into the voting hands of those living in each county. Did your local representatives or Senators ever explain that to you? If these elected officials wanted their constituents to have constitutional rights, they would have organized support or wrote letters or Op-Ed’s, but their actions and voices were silent. This blatant inaction should shake you to the bones, but they are in control and they know, eventually you will forget, but for those who will remember, they know you will continue to forgive them again and again.

What very few people do not know; this unconstitutional approach to reform LURC was concocted in the minds of the conservationist and not the legislators that you voted into office. Those who were appointed to the 13-member panel that Mr. Ek speaks of were under the trance and magic spell and wishes of Non-Governmental Organizations; could you imagine that, a bill that is influenced and written by non-legislators. By the way, if you remember my past Op-Eds, I explain that these NGOs are the same organizations that have been purchasing thousands of acres of land that is in the “3.2 million acre Restore Area”, now isn’t that a coincidence? Do you still trust your legislators, not me, I know these people.

You ask, how does this affect me, or how would the repeal of LURC affects the citizens that surround Quimby’s National Park? Quimby’s proposition would have been easy to stop if the County Commissioners and the citizens in the UT wanted to stop Quimby in her tracks, but now, things will have to go the course, the way that they want.

         Quimby vs. Maine #19           02/20/12

Once again, we have touched the proverbial nerve of both the Republican and Democrat legislators. Anger has also filtered down from Non-Government Organizations that control your legislators. Many questions have surfaced concerning how the repeal of LURC was sabotaged by both Republican and Democrat parties. It is also apparent that I must once again explain how “we as a so-called freedom loving, liberty believing people have been betrayed by the professionals once again.”

First of all, it would appear to the average citizen that the Quimby National park issue has gone away. But just remember that when the National Park supporters are quiet, things are going full throttle behind the scene. Progressives and Non-Government Organizations (NGO’s) are presently, putting all their attention and all their eggs into the proverbial basket, that basket is called “the Land Use Regulatory Commission (LURC)”. The NGO’s have not gone away, they are now lurking in the legislative halls in Augusta and they are embracing and directing their legislative friends to keep “hands off their agency”.

It now appears that the Park supporters and the NGO’s are winning this battle because they have not only the progressive democrats and republicans on their side, they have even fooled long time advocates to repeal LURC into accepting a new bill (written by the progressives and the NGO’s) that still gives LURC the same power over the Constitutional rights of Maine people.

I have been quoted till I am nauseous that most legislators do not right their own bills, even if it is their original idea. Many of these so-called respected legislators could not write a bill if they had one to copy from. Many bills are created by their local and national party to convince constituents in certain districts that their legislators are on their side or sympathetic to their issue. But professional special interest groups or NGO’s writes many bills that tug at the heartstrings of sympathetic people and the bill slips by uncontested.

Jeff Gifford’s bills was planned to fail, because it was written to fail and it was destined to be infiltrated by amendments that would render the bill as “frustrating to the law”. If anyone is willing to challenge my statement, lets do it in an open forum and I will bring the facts and the history as to how the legislature did this to you. But just to add to the fire I will add this statement: “the original bill and intent to repeal LURC was the only bill this year that would have returned the Constitutional Rights back to Maine people, the resulting bill that finally was presented to the legislators was designed to fail!”

Now let us begin the debate. The original intent of the first series of the bills was to give back the power to the people, the Legislators (both Democrat and Republican) could not allow that to happen. If they wanted this issue to win, all of the Legislators would have asked for the support of their constituents to give verbal and physical support. That means, the legislators would have set up to local town hall meetings, letters would have been mailed out, the news media would have been front page and challenges would have gone out to those who apposed Constitutional support. The people that surround the 3.2 million acre restore project and those people in the Katahdin area that would be affected by Quimby’s National park should have been assembled, but they were left on their own and there was only silence! Statewide, all we have heard is silence, not even the crickets could be heard.

The repeal of LURC was not supposed to be a political issue between Democrat and Republican, or organized or unorganized territorial issue; it was a Constitutional issue, pure and simple! As a result to the Legislatures lid on this issue, the majority of the public was not aroused and if anything, little to nothing of the Constitutional importance was written or presented to the legislature or the news media, silence! Many people in Maine did not know that this was an issue, silence!

My challenge to the readers of this Op-Ed is, find out who your legislator is (representative and senator), find out why they did not let you know the importance of this issue of Constitutional rights and why they did not ask you to help get back your Constitutional Rights. Lastly, remember actions speak loader than words, please do not allow them to snowball you by saying that they created bills or supported the repeal of LURC. Legislators have a fantastic way of talking their way out of a corner and they know you will back-off when they give you their version, but you will know what I am saying deep down in your heart, if they do not fess-up and apologize!
